A $200m all-cash agreement to acquire BioCircuit Technologies puts Florida-based Axogen in position to absorb NerveTape, the first sutureless peripheral nerve repair device to earn FDA clearance, with closing expected in Q4 2026.
The deal adds a hooks-based repair system to a portfolio that already includes the Avance nerve graft and the Axoguard range of nerve connectors and protectors. NerveTape received FDA clearance in July 2022.
The device uses miniature hooks to align and hold the ends of a severed nerve together, promoting healing without demanding the microsurgical precision that conventional suture-based repair requires.
Axogen president and CEO Michael Dale said the technology "makes high-quality nerve repair simpler and more accessible for surgeons," and the company's argument is that lower technical barriers allow deployment across a broader range of surgeons and care settings than traditional approaches permit.
