Dee Snider's post on X claiming Ozzy Osbourne "always had bass players write his lyrics" has opened a public dispute over songwriting credit for one of heavy metal's most durable catalogs, weeks after Osbourne died on July 22, 2025.
Kelly Osbourne fired back via Instagram Stories on Friday, calling the Twisted Sister frontman's remarks "spectacularly classless." Credit attribution in music is a royalties question before it is anything else, and the names Snider cited, Bob Daisley and Geezer Butler, are already on the publishing record.
The credits already on file Snider named Daisley and Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister as frequent writers of Ozzy's material and stated that Butler "wrote ALL of @BlackSabbath lyrics." Daisley's own website claims he wrote the majority of songs for Ozzy's first five solo albums.
He holds credited songwriter roles on both "Blizzard of Ozz" and "No Rest for the Wicked." Butler's status as the principal Black Sabbath lyricist was widely acknowledged during the band's active years.
