FlyDubai hijacking attempt exposes counterterrorism strategy gap

Bryan Stern, chairman and CEO of Grey Bull Rescue, stated that the attempted hijacking of FlyDubai flight FZ1073 demonstrates that the United States and its allies are relying on outdated counterterrorism assumptions against increasingly sophisticated adversaries.

Stern told Fox News Digital on Monday that the incident signals a significant gap in Western security strategies, describing the radical ideology behind the attack as a warning bell for global aviation security.

He characterized the current defensive posture as playing checkers while the opposing forces are playing chess, arguing that the U.S. is not even managing that lower level of strategy effectively.

United Arab Emirates investigators described the incident as an attempted terror attack after the co-pilot allegedly stabbed the captain and attempted to hijack the aircraft, which was carrying more than 170 passengers and crew, most of whom were Israelis.
