Houthi strikes kill Saudi pilot at King Khalid airport

Three Saudi nationals, including a pilot, were killed in attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Thursday, the Saudi Arabian General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) said in a statement posted on X Friday.

The authority confirmed that two separate incidents targeted the capital's aviation infrastructure, with the first aimed at airport facilities and the second directed at an aircraft belonging to the Saudi carrier Saudia.

Saudia identified the deceased pilot as Captain Hamoud Ali Alkalthami in a separate statement released Friday. Yemen's Houthi militants, a group backed by Iran, claimed responsibility for the strikes.

The Saudi-led coalition fighting the Houthis responded on Friday by vowing a "firm" reaction to the recent attacks, while confirming the destruction of three missile launchers used by the group.
