IRGC Navy confirms targeting three vessels in the Strait of Hormuz

Three vessels traveling what the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy described as unauthorized routes through the Strait of Hormuz were targeted by IRGC forces.

The corps confirmed the operation in a statement, naming the waterway directly.

The Strait of Hormuz, the narrow passage between Iran and Oman at the mouth of the Persian Gulf, is a primary maritime lane for energy cargo moving out of Gulf producer states.

Tankers transit the channel to reach buyers across Asia and beyond. The geography of the passage offers limited alternatives for operators needing to move cargo in or out of the Gulf.
