Michigan Sports Betting Now Has 13 Online Books

Michigan now hosts 13 active online sportsbooks, all regulated by the Michigan Gaming Control Board.

The state launched retail sports betting in March 2020 and permitted online wagering in January 2021 under the Lawful Sports Betting Act, House Bill 4916, which Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed in December 2019.

The regulatory framework distinguishes between tribal and non-tribal venues for minimum betting ages. Individuals must be at least 21 years old to place wagers at standard casinos or through mobile applications.

At tribal casinos, the minimum age drops to 18. Users must be physically located within Michigan's borders to place a bet, regardless of their residency status.
