BancFirst Corporation (NASDAQ: BANF) reported third-quarter 2026 net income of $67.3 million, or $1.97 per diluted share, an increase from $62.7 million, or $1.85 per diluted share, in the same period of 2025. The company attributed the rise in profitability primarily to higher loan volume and general growth in earning assets.

Net interest income climbed to $136.0 million for the three months ending September 30, 2026, up from $125.6 million in the prior year’s third quarter. This expansion supported a net interest margin of 3.85% for the current quarter, compared with 3.79% a year earlier. Noninterest income also contributed to the top line, totaling $51.4 million against $49.9 million in the 2025 period, driven by increases in service charges on deposits and treasury income.

On the expense side, noninterest expense grew to $98.2 million from $92.1 million in the third quarter of 2025. The company identified a $4.1 million increase in salaries and employee benefits as the primary factor behind this rise. Meanwhile, the provision for credit losses decreased to $3.1 million from $4.4 million in the comparable 2025 quarter.

Balance sheet data as of September 30, 2026, shows total assets at $15.0 billion, an increase of $182.3 million from year-end 2025. Total loans reached $8.7 billion, reflecting growth of $187.9 million since December 31, 2025. Deposits totaled $12.7 billion, up $29.3 million from the prior year-end figure, while sweep accounts stood at $4.7 billion, down $282.5 million from December 31, 2025.

Asset quality metrics indicate some deterioration in nonperforming assets, with nonaccrual loans representing 0.87% of total loans at September 30, 2026, up from 0.72% at the end of 2025. The nonaccrual loan balance totaled $75.6 million, with one commercial loan cited as the primary driver of this figure. Net charge-offs for the quarter amounted to $4.0 million, compared with $1.7 million in the third quarter of 2025; of this total, $1.8 million related to purchased credit deteriorated loans that performed in line with post-acquisition expectations.

CEO David Harlow stated that earnings were strong due to earning asset growth and sustained margins, while noting that expenses remained in line with plan. He added that capital levels remain strong and the allowance for credit losses is ample to support the company through future economic cycles. Harlow cautioned that a higher-for-longer interest rate outlook is expected to have a dampening effect on future economic activity.

The company also confirmed that its previously announced acquisition of Tulsa-based Spirit Bank is on schedule to close in October.
