Jonathan Maurer plans to retire as Co-Chief Executive Officer of OPAL Fuels (Nasdaq: OPAL) on March 31, 2027, with Adam Comora set to become the company's sole Chief Executive Officer. OPAL Fuels is a vertically integrated producer and distributor of renewable and compressed natural gas used as transportation fuel for heavy-duty trucking.

Maurer has served as Co-Chief Executive Officer since April 2021, the month the company was formed. Before that role, he was employed by FORTISTAR, OPAL Fuels' majority shareholder, starting in October 1998. The press release notes that Maurer will remain available to the company in a Senior Advisor role for an appropriate period to support the transition.

Mark Comora, Chairman of the Board of OPAL Fuels and President of FORTISTAR, thanked Maurer for his leadership over thirty-seven years. Comora stated that Maurer was instrumental in building the company and expressed gratitude for his service and commitment to a smooth transition. Comora also noted that Maurer is transitioning to managing his family office in West Palm Beach, Florida, and increasing his work with organizations where he serves as a board director.

In a statement, Maurer described the company's progress in providing reliable power and transportation fuel while reducing methane emissions. He cited the initial investment by FORTISTAR in landfill gas to energy facilities in 1996 as the starting point for building OPAL Fuels. Maurer expressed confidence that Adam Comora and the team are well positioned to lead the company's next chapter and looked forward to supporting the transition over the coming months.

Adam Comora, currently Co-Chief Executive Officer, described Maurer as an outstanding partner. Comora expressed gratitude for Maurer's friendship and leadership in building a strong foundation at OPAL Fuels and stated he looks forward to continuing work with the team in the next phase of growth and execution.

The company also announced that its Board has commenced an executive search for a President. This new role will report directly to Adam Comora. OPAL Fuels identifies itself as a leader in capturing and converting biogas into low carbon intensity renewable natural gas and renewable electricity, as well as marketing and distributing renewable natural gas to heavy-duty trucking and other industrial sectors.

The release includes a disclaimer regarding forward-looking statements, noting that statements about the planned leadership transition are subject to risks and uncertainties. These include the inherent uncertainty associated with leadership transitions, the timing and completion of the executive transition, and the company's ability to retain and recruit key personnel. The company stated that actual results could differ materially from those expressed or implied in such statements.
