The print
GAAP net sales for the quarter were $501.6 million against $493.9 million in Q2 2025. The spread between the two lines reflects the accounting treatment of tariff refunds received during the period. Adjusted EBITDA came in at $63.5 million, a record by the company's own characterization, up from $59.1 million in the prior-year quarter. GAAP diluted EPS from continuing operations was $1.39, compared with $1.17 a year earlier. Year-to-date non-GAAP EPS stands at $2.23, up from $2.10 through the same six months of 2025.
Segment results
Temperature Control led the quarter on an adjusted basis, with net sales up 15.7%, as preseason orders landed more heavily in Q2 this year. Engineered Solutions posted adjusted net sales growth of 16.8% off a soft year-ago comparison, with recovery reported across all end-markets. The Nissens European segment added 4.8% in adjusted net sales to $94.9 million, driven by 2.3% local-currency growth and a favorable conversion effect.
Vehicle Control was the lone drag, with adjusted net sales off 1.6%. Chairman and CEO Eric Sills attributed the shortfall primarily to order timing after a strong first quarter, with the wire sets category pulling back as customers right-sized inventories. Year-to-date, Vehicle Control adjusted net sales remain up 4.7%. SMP also completed a joint venture with Techstrong during the quarter, a move Sills said will broaden manufacturing capacity and diversify the company's global supply chain.
Balance sheet and guidance
Net debt at June 30 stood at $510.2 million, down from $599.4 million at the end of the first quarter. Net debt leverage fell to 2.5x from 3.0x, with management targeting 2.0x by December 31. Inventory declined to $684.2 million from $727.9 million at year-end 2025. Year-to-date operating cash flow improved $64.2 million.
Full-year guidance was reaffirmed: low to mid-single digit sales growth and an adjusted EBITDA margin in the 11% to 12% range. The outlook explicitly excludes shifts in the tariff landscape and any significant inflationary impact from the Middle East conflict.
What to watch
The balance sheet checkpoint is the 2.0x net debt leverage target by December 31, 2026. Temperature Control's full-year performance, Sills noted, will ultimately be determined by the length and intensity of the selling season as the company moves into its third quarter.
