Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reviews Bryce Harper FanDuel video in problem gambler case
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has confirmed it is reviewing a personalized video Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper recorded for Terry Thompson, a FanDuel bettor who says he lost $1.5 million on the platform, lost his home to foreclosure, and voluntarily entered a psychiatric facility for six days after planning to take his own life. FanDuel, a unit of Flutter Entertainment (FLUT), sourced the video through Cameo, where Harper charges $899 per clip. DraftKings (DKNG) is named alongside FanDuel in a civil lawsuit Thompson filed alleging both operators enabled his addiction through promotional offers and gifts.

Board opens review, scope undisclosed
Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board spokesperson Doug Harbach told PennLive on Friday the agency is aware of the situation and reviewing it, offering no further detail. The Harper video does not appear in Thompson's lawsuit. Harper holds no endorsement arrangement with FanDuel and has not commented publicly.
Thompson's case and the lawsuit details
Thompson hid his addiction from family and was formally diagnosed with a gambling addiction disorder during his six-day psychiatric stay. His civil filing centers on his relationship with FanDuel VIP host Bryttani Morgan, who the suit alleges offered Super Bowl LVII tickets and hotel accommodations in Arizona, transportation during Super Bowl weekend, access to a FanDuel Super Bowl party, and access to a Sports Illustrated Super Bowl party to keep him active on the sportsbook. Ongoing free Philadelphia sporting event tickets and free betting credits followed, the suit says, across the length of his relationship with the platform.
The filing acknowledges Morgan once suggested taking a timeout following a rough stretch. The break was brief. She soon contacted Thompson again about what she framed as an emergency. That emergency was the Super Bowl LVII gift package.
FanDuel's position and what to watch
FanDuel did not respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment on the Gaming Control Board's review. In a separate statement to the outlet, the company said employees are trained to recognize and flag signs of problem gambling and that it continues to review and strengthen its consumer protection policies. When pressed on whether Thompson received those resources, one of his attorneys cited the suggested timeout as the only example on record.
The next confirmable milestone for the setup is the Gaming Control Board's formal determination on whether the Harper video and FanDuel's VIP outreach practices warrant regulatory action under Pennsylvania gaming law.
