Zacks Investment Research has identified five S&P 500 companies with strong historical earnings surprise records that report results this week. The list includes Vertiv Holdings Co. (VRT), Microsoft Corp. (MSFT), Eli Lilly & Co. (LLY), Sandisk Corp. (SNDK), and Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL). The publication notes that these firms have consistently met or exceeded expectations over recent years, with some shares trading near all-time highs despite broader market fluctuations.

Vertiv Holdings Co. has missed earnings estimates only twice in the last five years, with the most recent miss occurring in 2023. Shares of the data center infrastructure company fell 21% over the last month as the AI trade weakened. This decline has lowered its forward price-to-earnings ratio to 28.9, a level Zacks describes as more attractive on valuation.

Microsoft Corp. has a similar record, with just one miss in the last five years dating back to 2022. Unlike other technology peers, Microsoft shares are up 3.2% in the last month and are trading near all-time highs. The company is part of the Magnificent 7 group reporting earnings this week, alongside Alphabet and Amazon.

Eli Lilly & Co. has recorded five consecutive earnings surprises. Shares are up 8% in the last month and trade near all-time highs. The stock carries a forward P/E of 38, which Zacks attributes to expected earnings growth of 37% in 2026. The company is one of several large pharmaceutical firms reporting results this week.

Sandisk Corp., which was spun off from Western Digital in 2025, has not missed on earnings since the separation. Shares have fallen 29% over the last month on fears of an AI slowdown, driving the forward P/E to 5.8. Zacks characterizes a P/E under 10 as deep value.

Alphabet Inc. has not missed earnings estimates since the AI Revolution began in 2023. Shares are down 7.8% in the last month, bringing the forward P/E to 15.6, a level near a historic low for the company. Zacks notes that Alphabet is cheaper than every other stock in its comparison set.

The earnings season this week also includes reports from big oil companies such as ExxonMobil and Chevron, and restaurant chains including Wingstop, Chipotle, and Starbucks. Zacks reporter Tracey discloses ownership of Vertiv shares in the Zacks Value Investor portfolio and personal holdings in Vertiv, Microsoft, and Alphabet.
