Insmed Incorporated (Nasdaq: INSM) has appointed Paul Hudson and Utpal Koppikar as independent directors, effective immediately. The Bridgewater, New Jersey-based biopharmaceutical company stated that the additions bring expertise in global biopharma leadership, commercial strategy, and financial management to its Board of Directors.

Will Lewis, Chair and Chief Executive Officer of Insmed, said the new members will support the company's global growth strategy and pipeline advancement. Lewis described Hudson's experience leading large biopharma organizations as invaluable for Insmed's commercial execution. He noted that Koppikar's financial expertise and track record of value creation will be assets as Insmed works to build long-term shareholder value.

Hudson most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of Sanofi S.A. from September 2019 through February 2026. Before that role, he was CEO of Novartis Pharmaceuticals from 2016 to 2019 and served on the Novartis Executive Committee. His career includes senior operational and commercial positions at AstraZeneca, where he held titles such as President of AstraZeneca United States and Executive Vice President, North America. Hudson began his career in sales and marketing at Schering-Plough, GlaxoSmithKline UK, and Sanofi-Synthélabo UK.

In a statement, Hudson said he has admired Insmed for its scientific innovation and clinical execution. He expressed intent to leverage his experience in global commercial strategy and organizational transformation to support the company's growth.

Koppikar has served as Chief Financial Officer at Verily Health Inc. since April 2023. At Verily, a healthcare data intelligence company, he is responsible for finance, real estate, workplace services, and corporate development. From 2018 to 2023, he served as Executive Vice President and CFO at Atara Biotherapeutics. Prior to Atara, he held senior financial leadership roles at Gilead Sciences and Amgen. Koppikar also currently serves on the Board of Directors of C4 Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: CCCC).

Koppikar stated that Insmed's pipeline and commercial momentum make it a compelling organization. He said he looks forward to guiding the company's financial and operational strategy as it scales its business to bring therapies to patients.

Insmed is advancing a portfolio of approved and investigational medicines across three therapeutic areas: Respiratory, Immunology & Inflammation, and Neuro & Other Rare. The company has two approved therapies for chronic lung diseases. Its research focuses on technologies including gene therapy, AI-driven protein engineering, RNA end-joining, and synthetic rescue.
