Salesforce (CRM) issued revenue guidance of $11.42 billion to $11.5 billion for fiscal Q3 2027, following reported revenue of $11.35 billion in the prior quarter. The company, which has seen its stock decline 3.8% over the past twelve months, is positioning its artificial intelligence products as the next driver of customer spending.

Management stated that most users have not yet adopted the premium software editions required to access the newest AI features. Only 5% of users of Salesforce's sales and service software have upgraded to these higher-end tiers, according to executives speaking on the fiscal Q2 2027 earnings call on August 26, 2026. Despite this low adoption rate, the company reported that customers using Salesforce's AI agents spend approximately twice as much annually on average compared to other users.

Agentforce, the platform for AI agents, generated $1.5 billion in annual recurring revenue during fiscal Q2 2027. This figure represents a small portion of the $43.9 billion in revenue Salesforce generated over the last twelve months. The growth potential rests heavily on the sales and service segments, which posted $9.0 billion and $9.8 billion in revenue respectively in fiscal 2026. Together, these two segments accounted for roughly 45% of the company's total revenue for that year, with each growing by about 8%.

Executives outlined a target of more than $63 billion in revenue for fiscal 2030, a significant increase from the $41.5 billion reported for fiscal 2026. While the stock has risen 40% over the past three months, it remains 11.5% below its 52-week high. Investors are awaiting further clarification on how much of Agentforce's revenue comes from customers who have moved past trial stages.

During the August 26 call, management disclosed that the company added 2,000 paying customers to production environments. The number of accounts with agents in production grew by 70% from the previous quarter. Salesforce also noted that users can now access its tools through platforms like Slack without using dedicated software screens, though the company has not yet determined how to charge for this access.

The next earnings report will cover fiscal Q3 2027. Key metrics to monitor include the share of sales and service users on premium editions and Agentforce's recurring revenue. The company's strategy relies on converting existing users to higher-priced tiers to unlock the value of its AI capabilities, a transition that management describes as central to delivering new value to customers.
