The University of Texas has permanently banned a fan from attending future games at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium after the individual was recorded flipping off Florida Gators players following Saturday's 27-24 loss. The incident occurred after the Longhorns suffered their second consecutive defeat in Week 7, marking a significant setback for the team's season.

Video footage captured by FOX 7 video photographer Anthony Geronimo shows the fan, who was wearing Texas gear and holding a phone, making the gesture toward several Gators players as they left the field. Geronimo shared the clip on X, where it accumulated over 3.5 million views. While several Florida players walked toward the fan, no physical altercation took place.

Chris Del Conte, Vice President and Athletic Director at the University of Texas, addressed the incident in a statement published on the university's website. Del Conte described the behavior as unacceptable for an individual with field access, stating that such actions do not reflect the university's values of sportsmanship and respect for opponents. He noted that field access requires representing the university with class and respect, and he stated that the individual did not meet those standards and is therefore barred from the stadium.

The athletic department emphasized that the matter was handled internally and offered a personal apology to the University of Florida and its football program. The ban distinguishes this event from common fan misconduct by highlighting that the individual had specific field access and approached opposing players directly, a distinction that informed the severity of the penalty.

The ban comes as Texas prepares to host No. 7 Ole Miss on Saturday. The Longhorns enter the contest with a 4-2 record, while the Rebels hold a 5-1 mark. This game is likely a must-win scenario for Texas if it intends to preserve its College Football Playoff hopes following its recent two-game skid.
