Lindsay Clancy juror attorneys plan bar complaint against defense lawyer Reddington

Attorneys for the lone holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy mistrial say they intend to file a bar complaint against the defendant's defense lawyer, Kevin Reddington, citing his treatment of their client. Tyler Cox, one of the juror's representatives, confirmed the plan on Fox News' Sean Hannity show on Tuesday evening, stating, "I can tell you, we're gonna file a bar complaint." The legal action targets Reddington's conduct regarding the single male juror on the 12-person panel who sought to find Clancy guilty in the strangling deaths of her three young children.

Reddington, a veteran Massachusetts defense attorney, addressed the court on Tuesday, expressing frustration over accusations that he is persecuting the holdout. He maintained that his actions consisted solely of filing a motion. Cox disputed this characterization, arguing that the motion was unprecedented in its approach. "You don't attack jurors this way, you don't single them out," Cox said, reiterating that a bar complaint would follow.

Plymouth County prosecutors have separately petitioned the court for a gag order against Reddington. In their filing, assistant Plymouth County District Attorneys Jennifer Sprague and Shanan Buckingham accused Reddington of helping to expose the holdout's identity to the public. They further alleged that his conduct robbed other jurors of their time and deprived Clancy of an acquittal. The prosecutors noted that ethical rules limit lawyer speech to prevent comments that influence trial outcomes or prejudice the jury venire.

The dispute has escalated into public exchanges between Reddington and Edward Paltzik, another attorney representing the holdout juror. Reddington has referred to the juror as "the obstructionist" during these interactions. Meanwhile, Judge William Sullivan has indefinitely impounded juror names, citing safety concerns and divisive public attention.

Clancy is scheduled to return to court on Nov. 2 for a motion hearing. Both sides informed Judge Sullivan that they require additional time, leaving the timing for a potential retrial unclear and no specific date currently set.
