President Donald Trump announced Friday that he plans to attend the college football matchup between No. 7 Alabama and No. 2 Georgia, scheduled for Oct. 10 at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The president made the statement during a midterm campaign rally at the University of South Alabama in Mobile. Both teams enter the game undefeated and are considered contenders for the national championship.
The contest, which kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will air nationally on ABC, marks the third time Trump has visited Bryant-Denny Stadium for a football game. He previously attended Alabama’s 46-41 loss to LSU in 2019 and returned to the university in May 2025 to deliver its commencement address. His attendance follows a similar visit last week to Neyland Stadium, where he watched Texas defeat Tennessee 20-17 in a high-stakes matchup. Air Force One performed a low-altitude flyover before that kickoff.
The rivalry between Alabama and Georgia has produced intense competition recently. The SEC rivals met twice last season, with Alabama earning a 24-21 regular-season victory in Athens before Georgia responded with a 28-7 win in the SEC Championship Game. Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart improved his record to 2-7 against the Crimson Tide with that conference title victory. Trump also attended the teams’ 2024 meeting in Tuscaloosa, where Alabama built a 28-point lead and held on for a 41-34 victory from a suite alongside several prominent Republican figures.
Trump has made frequent appearances at major sporting events throughout his second term. In addition to the recent college football games, he watched the national championship football game in January, a June NBA Finals contest, and the July FIFA World Cup final, during which he took part in the trophy presentation. In 2025, he became the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl. His other appearances this year include the Daytona 500, the U.S. Open men’s final, the Ryder Cup, the Army-Navy game, and multiple UFC events.
