Unusual Machines, Inc. (NYSE American: UMAC) closed its acquisition of DroneNX LLC, operating as Upgrade Energy, on October 19, 2026. The deal adds high-performance battery and power systems to the company's portfolio of NDAA-compliant drone components, which previously included motors, headsets, flight controllers, and video systems.

The acquisition was originally announced on May 11, 2026. Allan Evans, CEO of Unusual Machines, stated that the deal strengthens the company's ability to support the U.S. drone industry by integrating a critical piece of the drone powertrain. Evans noted that the industrial base for domestic drone production relies on a strong supply chain, and that Upgrade Energy's team brings deep expertise in battery technology and manufacturing.

Matthew Barnard, CEO of Upgrade Energy, said the combination allows the companies to expand U.S. production and serve more customers. Barnard emphasized that the merged capabilities aim to deliver performance, availability, and reliability for operators within the drone supply chain.

Before the transaction closed, Unusual Machines started ramping up battery output and recruiting staff at the Torrance, California site. The facility covers 18,500 square feet. The company intends to set up battery pack operations in Orlando, Florida. These operational moves are intended to meet increasing demand from defense, enterprise, and commercial customers, while continuing to serve the consumer FPV market through its Fat Shark and Rotor Riot brands.

Fact.MR estimates the U.S. drone components market is a $3 billion to $5 billion opportunity. Unusual Machines describes itself as a leading provider of domestic drone components focused on building a supply chain for the growing U.S. drone industry.

The press release includes forward-looking statements regarding the anticipated benefits of the acquisition, integration plans, and market trends. These statements are subject to risks and uncertainties, including the ability to successfully integrate Upgrade Energy's business and personnel, scale manufacturing capacity, and maintain compliance with evolving drone regulations. Actual results may differ materially from those expressed in forward-looking statements due to factors such as unanticipated costs, supply chain disruptions, and changes in government procurement priorities.
